1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and KaiCheng Fan, an individual operating the StepBy service ("StepBy", "we", "us"), governing your use of the StepBy website and services at https://www.stepby.com.tw (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old — the age of majority in Taiwan — and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. What StepBy does
StepBy generates personalized travel itinerary suggestions using automated tools, including AI, based on the preferences and trip details you provide. The Service may also display third-party information such as indicative hotel prices, maps, travel times, and place details.
Itineraries are suggestions, not guarantees. They are generated to help you plan and are provided for informational purposes only. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on, including but not limited to: opening hours and whether a place is currently operating; prices and availability; travel times and routes; and — critically — visa, passport, entry, health, vaccination, insurance, and safety requirements for your trip. StepBy is not a travel agency and does not provide travel, legal, medical, visa, or financial advice.
4. AI-generated content
Itineraries and related content are produced with automated systems and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date despite our quality checks. We make no warranty that any suggestion is accurate, available, suitable, or safe for your circumstances. Always confirm important details with the relevant provider or authority before booking or traveling.
5. Bookings and third-party services
StepBy does not sell travel, accommodation, or other services. When you choose to book something (for example, a hotel), you do so directly with the relevant third party (such as Booking.com) on that third party's website, subject to that third party's terms and privacy policy. StepBy is not a party to and is not responsible for those transactions, including pricing, availability, cancellations, refunds, or the quality of any third-party service. Your payment details are provided to the third party, not to StepBy.
6. Affiliate disclosure
(Once our affiliate program is active:) Some hotel links in your itinerary are affiliate links. If you book through them, StepBy may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This does not influence the itinerary logic — hotels and places are selected to fit your trip, not to maximize commission.
7. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@stepby.com.tw if you suspect unauthorized use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a security or legal risk.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems; scrape, resell, or commercially exploit the Service or its output without our permission; submit other people's personal data without a lawful basis; or use the Service to generate content that is illegal or infringes others' rights. We apply rate limits and other protections and may restrict use that threatens the Service's stability or cost.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding ("StepBy" and associated marks), is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own travel planning. Itineraries generated for you are yours to use for your personal, non-commercial travel purposes; you may not resell them or present them as a competing service.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any itinerary, price, or place detail is correct or current.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StepBy and KaiCheng Fan will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, bookings, or travel arrangements, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service or your reliance on any itinerary or third-party information. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) NT$1,000. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless StepBy and KaiCheng Fan from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, and we may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (R.O.C.), without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the courts of Taipei, Taiwan will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
